Preparation of the film

After ten years, the Panorama Film Festival [ppf] is turning into the city film festival Pair of Nice Films and will be even closer to all film fans in Banská Bystrica.


The festival remains faithful to classic analogue prints, but in addition to exclusive screenings in the summer cinema at the amphitheatre, this year it will also bring meetings with filmmakers, thematic lectures and a series of screenings in Museum SNP.

We invite you to the opening discussion of the 11th annual [ppf] City Film Festival, which will focus on the history of Banská Bystrica’s movie theaters and the people who brought film culture to our city. We will reminisce about defunct theaters, their transformations,

The following guests have accepted the invitation to the discussion: Ivan Polóny (longtime programmer at the Banská Bystrica Film Club), Ivan Školuda (projectionist), and Richard Kliment (manager of Kino Star Zvolen). The discussion will be moderated by Slavo Sochor.

After three years, [ppf] festival returns to the work of acclaimed Chinese director Zhang Yimou to present, following *Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon*, another epic film that exceeded the budget of its Oscar-winning predecessor many times over.

Hero is set 2,000 years ago during the Qin Dynasty and tells the story of a heroic warrior and protector of the king, who faces a monumental task—to unify China and elevate the king to the status of Emperor. The producers collaborated with the Chinese military during filming, which allowed them to create some of the most spectacular scenes in the history of historical war films.

Two brothers return to their hometown to start their lives over. But there they encounter the evil that lies in wait to welcome them back. Michael B. Jordan’s masterful performance in a dual role as the brothers delivers a wild experience set in the early 1930s in the Mississippi River Delta.

The films that changed his life will be presented by Peter Konečný, editor-in-chief of the Kinema.sk portal and director of the Cinematik festival, in his film stand-up.

After a year, Peter Konečný returns to PPF with a popular lecture on how and why films such as Man with a Movie Camera, Citizen Kane, Tokyo Story, 2001: A Space Odyssey, and 8½ have influenced the thinking and perception of audiences around the world. Peter Konečný, editor-in-chief of the kinema.sk portal, will present key milestones in filmmaking and also address what we can imagine today when we hear the term “cinema.” The event offers an opportunity to reflect on the history of film and its influence on our everyday decision

A special screening of the legendary film musical, which celebrated the 40th anniversary of its release in Czechoslovak cinemas last year, featuring director Dušan Rapoš at the Záhrada Cultural Center park.

The heroes of the story are a group of fifteen-year-old schoolchildren who have just finished elementary school and are enjoying their last summer vacation before they go their separate ways to different high schools. The focal point of it all is an abandoned and dried-up fountain in the middle of the housing estate, where everyone gathers. The stars of the group that meets here are two pretty girls, Bela and Zuza. However, the film follows not only their fates, problems, feelings, and behavior in various life situations, but also their loves and heartbreaks, mistakes, and reconciliations.
